Water soluble packaging film (mainly PVA polyvinyl alcohol film) has strict requirements for storage conditions due to its strong moisture absorption and susceptibility to environmental influences.

 Here are some opinions from Fujin Textile Company on storage conditions:

1、 Storage conditions

1. Humidity control

It is recommended to maintain the relative humidity within the range of  20%~80% *.When the humidity is greater than 60%, the membrane is prone to moisture absorption, softening, and stretching deformation, which affects its mechanical strength. When the humidity is too low (<20%), it may cause the membrane to become brittle and fragile;

2. Moisture prevention measures

Sealed packaging must be used to isolate moisture and immediately reseal after use to avoid exposure to air;

3. Temperature requirements

Suitable temperature: 10 ℃~39 ℃ (PVA membrane). When the storage temperature is less than 10 ℃, the protective solution may freeze (such as ultrafiltration membrane components), causing physical damage to the membrane fibers. When the storage temperature is greater than 40 ℃, it will accelerate the aging and dissolution performance of the membrane material and decrease;

4. Avoid light and ventilate

It should be stored indoors in a cool and well ventilated place, away from direct sunlight or ultraviolet rays, and kept away from heat sources (such as heating and boilers) to prevent high temperatures from accelerating degradation.

2、 Packaging and stacking specifications

1. Packaging requirements

Unopened film roll: Keep the original factory sealed packaging, label the model, storage date and other information;

Opened film roll: reseal with moisture-proof bag and desiccant to avoid contact with liquids, strong acids, strong alkalis, and other substances.

2. Stacking method

Stacking principle: light on top and heavy on bottom, small on top and large on bottom, only the same type of film is placed on a single tray;

Height limit: ≤ 1.5 meters, total weight ≤ 0.7 tons, to prevent compression deformation;

Placement direction: Horizontal placement.

3、 Problem response and maintenance

The membrane material becomes soft due to moisture: after being moved to a dry environment (such as 25 ℃, 50% RH) and equilibrated for 48 hours, its performance may be restored;

Low temperature freezing: Slowly raise the temperature to above 10 ℃ to melt, avoiding ice crystals scratching the surface of the film;

Long term storage: PVA film has a shelf life of about 5-6 years (meeting the above conditions).

Note: Water soluble films for different purposes (such as pesticide bags, medical films, laundry gel packaging) have slight differences in sensitivity to temperature and humidity. It is recommended to adjust storage parameters according to the instructions or contact our business representative. If possible, they can be stored in a constant temperature and humidity environment.
